
1. ANAESTHETIST
Job Brief
Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital is looking for qualified Anaesthetists who will be responsible for assessing patients’ health and determining the most suitable type of anaesthesia. The successful candidates will also administer appropriate anaesthesia before surgery, monitor patients during surgical procedures, provide post-operative care, and manage emergencies in theatre.
Academic Specification and Experience
- Degree/Diploma in Anaesthesia
- Minimum of four (4) years’ work experience as an Anaesthetist
- Must be a registered and subscribing member of the Eswatini Medical and Dental Council
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess whether a patient is fit enough to undergo surgery
- Agree with surgeons on an anaesthetic plan
- Reassure patients about procedures before and after surgery
- Prepare patients for surgery
- Administer anaesthesia and provide safe pre-operative care and pain relief
- Monitor patients under anaesthesia, including blood pressure, heart activity, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, breathing, and body temperature
- Resuscitate and stabilise patients during emergencies
- Reverse anaesthesia and manage post-operative pain
- Work closely with surgeons, theatre nurses, radiographers, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals
- Train, teach, and supervise junior staff in critical care and anaesthesia

- Comprehensive knowledge of anaesthetics and procedures

- Excellent hand-eye coordination
- Ability to manage stress and fatigue effectively
- Compassionate attitude towards patients

Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital is seeking qualified General Nurses who will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and facilitating speedy recovery for patients.
Academic Specification and Experience
- Diploma in General Nursing
- Must be registered with the Eswatini Nursing Council
- Must possess a valid and updated practicing license
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor patients’ conditions and assess their healthcare needs
- Observe and interpret patients’ symptoms and communicate findings to physicians
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop individualized care plans
- Perform routine procedures such as blood pressure measurements and administering injections
- Maintain and update patients’ charts
- Adjust and administer medication according to physician instructions
- Provide emergency medical care when required
- Assist surgeons during operations
- Supervise and train nursing assistants
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment for patients and families
