REPORTS TO: Surveillance officer

LOCATION: MOH-Environmental Health Department/ Points of Entry

OVERVIEW: ICAP-Eswatini. in partnership with the Ministry of Health, and with funding from the United States Government-CDC/PEPFAR is engaged in partnerships to strengthen epidemiology and research in the country These include support to building capacity for surveillance data collection, quality assurance, analysis, visualization and reporting on disease surveillance including COVID-19 response and vaccination to inform decision making.

OVERALL JOB FUNCTIONS: Working closely with the Environmental Health Office (EHO), Epidemiology and Disease Control Unit (EDCU), Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), COVID-19 Vaccine Control Room and all relevant stakeholders. the Data Officer will be responsible for collection, tracking and reporting of port of entry health screening and COVID-19 vaccination data amongst travellers.

• Execute implementation of project workplan for digitization of POE health screening and COVID-19 vaccination data collection. tracking and reporting in line with guidelines and SOPS.

• Conduct health screening and assessment of travellers at points of entry and coordinate quarantine and testing as necessary.

• Conduct electronic collection, tracking and reporting of health screening and COVID-19 vaccination data amongst travellers in POE.

• To coordinate any medical emergencies including transportation of ill travellers from point of entry to referral facility.

• Collect data on travellers entering and exiting the country with either vaccination certificates or PCR results.

• Lead data collection Support in the verification of vaccination certificates and PCR results for all travellers using electronic data verification.

• Investigate, report, and manage any field incidents and implement Corrective Actions/Preventive Actions (CAPA)

• Review completed health screening electronic data collection forms for completeness, legibility and accuracy as applicable.

• Review project data entry queries and obtain missing or questionable data

• Implement data security, storage, and management procedures, whilst ensuring participants confidentiality.

• Assist in the development of health screening and COVID-19 vaccination data documents and written reports as assigned and submit to national and regional offices.

• Carry out inspections of cargo, conveyances; monitor food imports products, documentation and sampling; inspection and certification of human remains.

• Monitor waste management (Health Care Waste), vector control and sanitation conditions of the points of entry

• Perform any other duties as assigned


• A bachelor’s degree in environmental health sciences, Public Health, Social sciences, or any other relevant Health Sciences.

• 2-3 years experience in conducting health research activities, especially data mining, monitoring and evaluation and reporting,

• Experience with Excel and data collection software’s such as ODK, Kobo collect, Redcap, Epi data or any other electronical collection tools.

• Experience working with multiple stakeholders and excellent communication skills

• Ability to pay attention to details

• Experience in working at POE on COVID-19 related issues
