Employee Relations Officer
Within the Corporate Services division in Matsapha, Swaziland.
Job Summary
This role involves supporting the organisation by maintaining constructive employee–management relationships, ensuring fair application of policies and labour legislation, resolving workplace disputes, and fostering a respectful and compliant working environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Facilitating communication between employees and management
- Counselling employees and supervisors on policies and grievance processes
- Conducting workplace investigations and recommending solutions
- Applying disciplinary and policy-related processes fairly
- Assisting with implementation of HR policies, procedures, and compliance
- Ensuring adherence to labour legislation and employment equity requirements
- Conducting policy-related training sessions
- Managing and mediating grievances, disciplinary actions, and conflict situations
- Maintaining accurate documentation and reporting of ER matters
- Supporting managers with consistent application of disciplinary measures
- Supporting labour relations activities, including union interactions
- Assisting with preparation and representation of cases at tribunals
- Supporting initiatives that enhance employee engagement and workplace culture
- Collaborating with HR on communication and change initiatives
- Performing general HR administration
- Identifying risk areas and ensuring legal compliance
- Maintaining positive interpersonal relationships and contributing to HR teamwork
Qualifications and Skills
- Matric / Grade 12
- Relevant diploma or degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Psychology, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in employee relations or labour relations
- Strong knowledge of labour legislation, dispute resolution processes, and HR policies
- Experience in conducting investigations and managing disciplinary and grievance matters
- Ability to build positive relationships with unions and employee representatives
- Strong communication, negotiation, and mediation skills
- Excellent record-keeping and report-writing ability
- High levels of integrity, fairness, and confidentiality
- Ability to work under pressure with strong problem-solving skills
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Valid Driver’s License (Code 08) and willingness to travel
