JOB PROFILE

The Internal Audit Officer’s role is to add value and improve the Fund by bringing systematic and disciplined approach through improvement in internal controls, monitoring the effectiveness of risk management and governance process. The successful candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of accounting standards, auditing standards and procedures and sound professional judgement.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement internal audits in accordance with the approved Internal Audit Plan and applying the auditing standards.
  • Perform and control the full audit cycle from planning up to completion within the allocated timelines.
  • Risk assessment and controls evaluation and review on operations effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  • Prepare reports that reflect audit results and document processes followed.
  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure compliance, consistency, equity and goal achievement.
  • Identify control deficiencies and recommend corrective action/ remedial action for improvement in internal controls.
  • Prepare draft audit report on the audit findings.
  • Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s effective implementation of the interventions requires to improve internal controls as issued in the audit reports.
  • Monitor compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory, contractual and legal requirements and standards.
  • Ensures all statutory or regulatory returns, reports and disclosures are completed and filled within required time
  • Collaborating with the legal office on the maintenance of an up-to-date compliance register on all the applicable compliance requirements within the Fund and its subsidiaries operations.

  • Monitor compliance with documented business processes, procedures & appropriate controls in place for the Fund and its subsidiaries.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on the development and improvement on operational processes that will maximize business process efficiencies and
  • Monitor the Operating effectiveness & maintenance of the Fund’s ICT and IT systems that support the core business areas, ensuring system integration, data integrity and that resources are adequately managed.
  • Recommend continuous improvements that embraces technology and innovation where appropriate to aid business operations and achieve efficiencies.
  • Re-assess operational risk inherent in MVA-Fund’s business and its subsidiaries, taking account legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, practices and the impact of new technology.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • B Com Degree with majors in Accounting/ Internal Audit or Equivalent. Must be studying towards a CIA, CA/ ACCA.
  • Should have Served & Completed articles with a reputable audit firm with a minimum of 3 years in Leading Audit engagements. Experience in IT Audit is an added advantage.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

Strategic thinking, problem solving, pro-activeness, planning and organizing, effective communication including presentation & reporting skills, analytical thinker, good team player, results orientation and critical reviewer. Proficiency in MS Office and data analysis tools.
