PSI/Eswatini (PSI/ES)

PSI/ES is a nonprofit company registered locally under the laws of Eswatini that has been implementing health programs since 2001. Fully committed to measurable health impact, PSI/Eswatini works in close cooperation with government, partners in the public and private sectors and local civil society to deliver high quality health programs to reach vulnerable populations with needed health prevention services, products and information. The organization is currently implementing HIV prevention programs including community-based HIV counseling and testing, linkages to care and treatment, treatment initiation, voluntary medical male circumcision, non-communicable diseases (NCD) and condom promotion and distribution, employing both fixed site and mobile outreach models. All services are accompanied by social behavior change communication messaging.

PSI seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and committed individual with an interest in building a career in NGO sector Programs for the position of Locum Scribe within PSI Eswatini’s Programs team.  He/she works within PSI Eswatini to support program activities. This individual’s overall function is to listen to live proceedings, meetings or audio and video recordings to create written versions of them.

The Locum Scribe’s responsibilities include creating accurate written versions of proceedings, audio and video recordings, reviewing and editing written versions, and identifying any inconsistencies. You should have a good typing speed (60 to 75 words per minute), give meaning to all transcribed versions in line with the proceedings and superb attention to detail and be able to keep all sensitive information confidential.

Your contribution

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Listen in during assigned meetings discussions
  • Transcribe/type discussions into MS word verbatim
  • Transfer information into report.
  • Edit completed work for grammar, spelling checks and punctuation

What are we looking for?

The Basics:

  • Relevant Tertiary Education is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office especially MS word
  • Fluency in writing English and Siswati
  • Proven work experience as a scriber/typist

  • Ability to focus for long periods
