PSI/Eswatini (PSI/ES)

PSI/ES is a nonprofit company registered locally under the laws of Eswatini that has been implementing health programs since 2001. Fully committed to measurable health impact, PSI/Eswatini works in close cooperation with government, partners in the public and private sectors and local civil society to deliver high quality health programs to reach vulnerable populations with needed health prevention services, products and information. The organization is currently implementing HIV prevention programs including community-based HIV counseling and testing, linkages to care and treatment, treatment initiation, voluntary medical male circumcision, non-communicable diseases (NCD) and condom promotion and distribution, employing both fixed site and mobile outreach models. All services are accompanied by social behavior change communication messaging.

PSI seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and committed individual with an interest in building/ furthering a career in NGO sector for the position of Locum Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Interpersonal Communication Agent (aka VMMC IPC Agent) within PSI Eswatini’s HIV/SRH Department. The VMMC IPC Agent will be responsible for recruiting clients for VMMC as per demand creation strategy to meet program targets and will be based in Matsapha but will be deployed in communities within the four Tinkhundlas where PSI is currently creating demand for VMMC (Kwaluseni, Lobamba Lomdzala, Manzini North and Ludzeludze).

Your contribution

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities:

Interpersonal communications:

Conduct small group and one-on-one sessions. These sessions will incorporate the minimum requirements for communications under Prevention services demand creation, referrals and linkages. These will include but not limited to;

  • Recruit clients for VMMC as per VMMC demand creation strategy to meet program targets.
  • Conduct small group and one-on-one sessions with males aged 15 years and above on male circumcision.
  • Conduct VMMC mobilization sessions and distribute consent forms at schools and in community outreach points for adolescent boys aged between 15-19 years.
  • Conduct formal and informal small group education sessions at appropriate venues, such as communities, bus ranks, schools, work places and churches to recruit clients for all PSI strategies.
  • Document observed barriers and enhancers for VMMC services uptake and communicate to Linkages Coordinator.
  • Participate in weekly briefing sessions with / Linkages Coordinator and Clinical Manager and provide feedback on MC program status.
  • Manage information desks during educational sessions and promotions in designated communities.
  • Handle PSI equipment for data collection and ensure quality synchronization of digital information collected.
  • Submit quality consent forms and data from the communities.
  • Distribute IEC and promotional materials during outreach sessions and promotional events.
  • Document and submit weekly reports as required.

What are we looking for?

The Basics:

  • Certificate/Diploma in Communications, marketing, public relations or relevant communications experience
  • O’ Level
  • Must have experience in HIV prevention related work
  • Experience in rural and urban related outreach work
  • Must have good interpersonal communication skills
  • Added advantage if you openly acknowledge being circumcised
