TITLE GENERAL NURSE (33 POSITIONS)

Grade: C3

Supervisor: Chief Nursing Officer

Minimum Qualification: Diploma in General Nursing

Expectations: Registration with Eswatini Nursing Council and up-to-date with Annual Practicing License

Objectives: To provide comprehensive services in the management of confirmed cases of COVID 19 in the country

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develops comprehensive nursing care plans

2. Provides comprehensive general nursing care.

3. Assesses , diagnosis and treat wide range of conditions

4. Prescribes and administers medications

5. Provides health Promotion

6. Provides counselling services to clients

7. Ensures follow up care of clients.

8. Identifies and reports communicable diseases

9. Refers cases to the next level of care.

10. Provides advice to subordinates on professional issues

11. Provides advice to clients/family members on health issues

12. Solves problems within the scope as prescribed

13. Assess, analyses, interprets relevant data for decision making

14 . Manages, supervises and coordinates the work of nursing assistants and support staff.

15. Delegates and empower staff to perform required tasks

16. Provides coaching and mentorship for nursing assistants and nursing students

17. Accounts for equipment machinery , infrastructure and maintenance

18. Monitors, controls drugs and medical supplies

  • Knowledge: General Nursing Science, theory and practice HIV
  • Management Computer literacy
  • Coaching and monitoring training

Skills: Supervisory, problem solving interpersonal skills reporting, communication documentation, presentation, assessment /diagnostic skill, basic research methodology.


TITLE: NURSING ASSISTANT(11 POSITIONS)

Grade: C2

Supervisor: Chief Nursing Officer

Minimum Qualifications: Certificate in Nursing Assistant

Expectations: Registration with Eswatini Nursing Council and up to date Annual Practicing Licence

Objectives: To provide comprehensive services in the management of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Assists in the performance of nursing care.

2. Takes directives on nursing duties from senior nursing staff.

3. Bathes and feeds patients,

4. Makes patients beds to ensure physical comfort

5. Assists with movement of clients within facility.

6. Collects specimens for diagnostic purposes within scope of practice

7. Provides health talk to clients.

8. Supervises cleanliness of the unit.

9. Documents nursing actions

10. Attends to relatives and visitors in the unit.

11. Sends and releases bodies from the mortuary.

12. Mentors and coaches nursing assistant students and Support staff.

13. Collects basic information regarding nursing care and acts as directed.

14. Records and reports information on patients care.

15. Takes report in accordance to facility policies

16. Writes client progress report in the absence of the general nurse.

Competencies and Attributes:

• Knowledge in Nursing Assistant theory and practice

• Basic Knowledge on HIV/AIDS management

JOB TITLE: MEDICAL OFFICER (10 POSITIONS)

Grade: E4

Supervisor: Deputy Director of Health Services (Clinical)

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

Expectations: Registration with Swaziland Medical and Dental Council and up to date Annual Practicing License

Objectives: To provide comprehensive services in the management of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide clinical care/treatment to those diagnosed with COVID-19 in the designated facilities in the country, including during working hours and after hours:

2. Conduct diagnostic procedures such as taking swabs for those suspected to be having COVID-19 and those undergoing treatment for the disease;

3. Participate in training and orientation of other health worker cadres deployed to provide clinical care to COVID-19 cases;

4. Conduct meetings with other case management staff to improve management of the COVID-19 cases where they are located;

5. Provide education and counselling of confirmed COVID-19 cases admitted and up to 14 days after discharge from the COVID-19 treatment facilities;

6. Collect data on COVID-19 cases under their care and utilize data for improving patient care

7. Prepare reports to Senior Management of MOH as required by supervisor

Competencies and attributes

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal with patients and other colleagues

2. Ability to work as a member of the COVID-19 clinical team with strong inter-personal skills

3. Good clinical experience with ability to work efficiently to manage COVID-19 cases

4. Flexibility to switch roles where urgently required
