Ekuphileni clinic, a subsidiary of Sincephetelo MVA Fund invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of Sonographer.

Main purpose of the job:

The use of radiation to treat injured and ill patients and aid in the diagnosis of patients through capturing images of bones, organs and human tissue. It includes working with X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, ultrasound, mammography machines and any other Radiological equipment.


  1. Diagnostic Services
  • Review the patient’s medical chart prior to their appointment and have a clear understanding of the images required
  • Performing the various sonographic imaging as requested by the referring Doctors
  • Respond telephonically to clinicians to answer questions or attain details relating to ordered sonographic images
  • Prepare ultrasound equipment and examination room ensuring proper sterilization and safety procedures are followed
  • Use ethical judgment and critical thinking skills to perform diagnostic imaging safely
  • Review images before sending to the physician to ensure a clear image of the area requested
  • Explaining diagnoses and treatments to patients and or family members
  • Offering support and care to patients undergoing treatment
  • Receive, analyse and send reports to referring Doctors
  • Liaise with medical specialists to plan treatment for patients
  1. Administration:
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality
  • Keeping accurate patient statistics
  • Develop, maintain, and oversee weekly/monthly reports
  • Physical verification of the quantities and condition of stock
  • Ensure medications and other consumables are controlled to avoid wastage and or pilfering
  • Reporting of any anomalies or concerns.

III. Technological Expertise:

  • Proficient in operating complex medical instruments such as MRIs, CT scanners, X-ray, ultrasound, mammogram machines and several other imaging devices
  • Use of portable devices to conduct diagnostic scans on immobile patients
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines to minimize risk of exposure to ionizing radiation
  • Being responsible for all radiation safety and checking equipment for any malfunctions
  • Regularly inspect diagnostic equipment to ensure they are functional and operate efficiently
  • Adjust diagnostic equipment to deliver accurate amount of radiation to patients

  • Assist with the development of Standard Operating Practices for Quality assurance purposes
  • Attend continuing professional development courses and work to advance personal knowledge and experience within the field

Required Qualifications/Experience

The ideal candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • BSC / Bachelor of Diagnostic Ultrasound
  • Registration as a Radiographer with Medical and Dental Council of Eswatini
  • 3 years’ experience in a General Hospital offering the entire spectrum of Radiological and Sonographic services.
