Established in 1963, Usutu Forest School is an independent, not-for-profit, co-educational school, providing a quality education for 660 pupils from Grades 00- Form 4.

The school is situated in the beautiful forested area of Mhlambanyatsi in the Eswatini Western Highlands, and is 26km from the capital, Mbabane.

The School has a strong international flavour with children from 36 nationalities represented at the school.

The School follows the Cambridge Internal Examinations (CIE) with students following the Primary Years Programme in the Primary School, and the IGCSE, AS and A level programmes in the High School.

The school has a strong academic record and offers a wide variety of sporting codes and cultural activities.

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

The successful candidate will manage all matters of school administration that do not relate to the curriculum or academic matters. The COO will provide strategic direction in the areas of Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Projects, Outsourced Services, Environmental Impact, School processes and Human Resources.

The ideal candidate should possess the following attributes:

• Relevant experience in a senior management position, in a business, education or operations management

• Relevant tertiary qualification to manage the above portfolios

• Excellent leadership and management skills.

• Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills and sound administrative ability

• Proven track record in service delivery and relationship building  Financial and budgeting oversight

• Maintain professional values and ethics

• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements

• Foster the school culture

• Plan, lead and implement organisational change

• Build capacity for organisational change

• Allocate and monitor the progress of work

• Develop productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

• Recruit and support workforce planning

• Negotiation and conflict resolution skills

• Manage staff development and performance

DEPUTY HEAD : PRE-PRIMARY AND FOUNDATION PHASE

The ideal candidate will:

• Lead as a member of the Management Team of the School

• Co-ordinate the academic and timetabling programmes

• Conduct parent interviews and respond to parental needs

• Implement and maintain the Code of Conduct

• Co-ordinate and manage Phase events and activities

• Possess a degree and professional teaching qualification (PGCE or HOE)

• Have a minimum 3 years at Senior Management level in the same and/or similar type position and environment

• Have educational experience and fully conversant with current trends and developments within the education field

• Knowledge of the Cambridge curriculum would be advantageous, but not essential

• Oversee Student discipline

• Control and manage Phase budget

• Drive and manage innovation, development and implementation of initiatives

• Provide academic leadership and guidance

Competencies required:

• An open and creative outlook to education

• Ability to motivate and deal empathetically at all levels

• Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues, students and parents

• Energetic, self-motivated and able to use own initiative

Due to expansion of the High School and increased enrollment in the Primary School, the management structure has been reviewed, creating a position of Primary School Head who will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Primary School, as well as being involved in the strategic aspect of the School.

The Head of the Primary School will report to the Executive Head and wit be a member of the Executive Committee.

HEAD OF PRIMARY SCHOOL

The ideal candidate will possess:

– A degree and professional teaching qualification (PGCE or HDE)

– Minimum 5 years at Senior Management level in the same and /or similar type position and environment

– Appropriate educational experience and fully conversant with current trends and developments within the education field

– Have a passion for education and a vision for the future of the school and the ability to share this with the school community

– Have the ability to challenge and inspire students and teachers to live out their values – Be an innovative, visionary leader

– Be able to attract and retain educators of exceptional quality

– Add value in a dynamic and growing environment

– Experience using the Cambridge Primary Curriculum would be advantageous but not essential

– High proficiency in the use of technology and computer applications

– Well-developed sense of professionalism including excellent verbal and written communication skills and a history of effective administrative and organisational skills

– Possess the ability to develop and embrace new and progressive teaching ideas

– Work as part of a team and commit to the ethos of the school, and be prepared to be involved in the whole school programme and initiatives
