Overview

The Eswatini Standards Authority (SWASA) whose mission is to promote quality principles and facilitate the use of standards to reduce technical barriers to trade and investment, ensure a sustainable Swazi economy and safeguard the nation’s health, safety and environment, invites suitably qualified individuals to fill in the following positions tenable within the Authority:

1. MARKETING AND SALES OFFICER

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Development of a marketing strategy for SWASA and further overseer its implementation with limited available resources

• Undertake marketing research to provide information required for marketing planning and management

• Preparation of market research plans

• Study channels for marketing services with the view to adopt the most cost effective alternatives

• Manage the all SWASA electronic platforms

• Manage the production of in house publications, including news letters, annual reports, brochures, posters etc

• Ensure ongoing maintenance of good relations with all SWASA stakeholders

• Participate in the organization of corporate events including press conferences, exhibitions etc

• Be the link between SWASA, media houses and the general public

• Ensure increased uptake of SWASA services by industry

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of at least Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a major in Marketing

• Proven 3 years’ experience in sales and marketing

• Graphic design and layout experience

• Brand promotion and management

• Working knowledge of standardization, quality assurance, accreditation and metrology will be advantageous.

2. STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

• Edit all standards final documents developed during interactions with technical committees

• Liaise with the Information Officer in soliciting international or foreign standards for adoption into national standards.

• Develop an in-house procedure in line with WTO procedures for developing standards.

• Keep up to date with changes in the standards development field and incorporate relevant changes into SWASA’s standards development system

• Be vigilant of withdrawn standards and ensure that they are not erroneously referred to.

• Identify sectors requiring the formulation of any new Technical committee and spearhead its formation.

• Identify potential members for Technical Committees and facilitate their involvement – Ensure continued support and involvement of all technical committee members

• Monitor the work and progress of technical committees

• Advise all technical committees on technical issues.

• Facilitate the convening of Technical Committee meetings.

• Develop and manage a training programme and facilitate the training of TC Members on technical committee procedures. – Monitor the work of Technical Secretaries and ensure that their time is productive.

• Coordinate. guide, motivate, develop and asses the Technical Secretaries

• Ensure that the Technical Secretaries are conversant with all the SWASA rules and regulations.

• Conduct standards-based training

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences majoring in Physics or Engineering

• 3 years of Work Experience in a Management Systems Environment

• At least 2 years’ experience as a Management Systems Administrator

• Knowledge and experience of working with at least any of the following management system standards: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 22000.

• Knowledge and experience of continual improvement tools and techniques.

• Good command of English & siSwati languages.
