ART TEACHER

We are seeking a creative, patient, and passionate Art Teacher to inspire students to explore fine arts, develop technical skills, and express themselves through painting, drawing and related media. The ideal candidate will foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and an appreciation for art history and contemporary practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree majoring in Art & Design or equivalent.
  • A qualification in education will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in teaching IGCSE curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Plan and deliver engaging art lessons using the Cambridge junior phase, IGCSE, and AS Level curriculum.
  • Teach foundational techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, digital art, graphic communication, textile arts and mixed media.
  • Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and cultural backgrounds.
  • Integrate art history, aesthetics, and art criticism into hands-on projects.
  • Submit scheme of work & prep for lessons.

Classroom Management & Assessment

  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean classroom environment, including proper storage of materials and tools.
  • Enforce safety protocols for using tools and non-toxic materials.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior, respect for supplies, and collaborative work.
  • Assign grades for projects, tests and examinations.
  • Provide constructive, individualized feedback that encourages artistic growth.
  • Forward any students’ art that suggests distress in their personal life to the school counsellor.

Engagement & Community

  • Encourage self-expression and risk-taking in a supportive atmosphere.
  • Identify and support students with special artistic talents or those needing remediation.
  • Foster a growth mindset and resilience when projects do not turn out as planned.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and art events.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate art across subjects.
  • Organize and supervise art clubs, after-school studio sessions, or open-studio hours.
  • Coordinate annual student art exhibitions and any décor / art related duties for school functions.
  • Manage art contests, field trips, and visiting artist programs.
