Overview

The U.S. Embassy Mbabane is seeking a qualified Chauffeur to safely operate a fully armored vehicle (FAV) in support of the Ambassador and/or Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM). The successful candidate will provide secure transportation services, ensure the assigned vehicle remains clean and roadworthy, and perform minor preventive maintenance.

The selected candidate must be able to begin work within a reasonable period following receipt of all required agency authorizations and security clearances.


Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Safely operate a fully armored vehicle (FAV).
  • Transport the Ambassador and/or Deputy Chief of Mission within Mbabane and surrounding areas.
  • Maintain the assigned vehicle in a clean and serviceable condition.
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance and first-echelon repairs.
  • Report vehicle defects promptly.
  • Ensure passenger safety through defensive driving techniques.
  • Report to the Ambassador’s Office Management Specialist (OMS).

Qualifications & Evaluations

Education

  • Completion of High School is required.

Experience

  • At least three (3) years of professional driving experience.

Knowledge

Candidates should have knowledge of:

  • U.S. Mission protocol procedures relating to the Front Office.
  • State Department vehicle safety standards.
  • Motor pool rules and regulations.
  • Local traffic laws and regulations.
  • Locations of diplomatic missions, government institutions, and NGOs.
  • In-country travel routes.
  • Political and security environment, including demonstrations and protests.

Language Requirements

  • English: Level II (Limited Knowledge) – Reading, Writing and Speaking.
  • SiSwati: Level III (Good Working Knowledge) – Reading, Writing and Speaking.

Language proficiency may be tested.

Skills and Abilities

Applicants must:

  • Hold a valid driver’s licence.
  • Be able to operate Level C or D armored vehicles.
  • Demonstrate defensive driving skills.
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and carry out preventive maintenance.
  • Detect and report vehicle defects promptly.
  • Complete the SMITH System Defensive Driving programme.
  • Remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Interact professionally with senior government officials.
  • Possess basic computer skills for reporting and communication.

Overview

The U.S. Mission in Eswatini is seeking qualified and eligible applicants for the position of IT Infrastructure Technician within the Diplomatic Technology Section.

The successful candidate will install, maintain, and support Information Technology (IT) infrastructure across U.S. Government facilities, vehicles, and official residences while providing technical support for mission operations and VIP events.


Duties

Reporting directly to the Lead IT Administrator, the successful candidate will:

  • Install, maintain, and support IT infrastructure and endpoint devices.
  • Maintain IT systems within U.S. Government facilities, vehicles, and official residences.
  • Support communication requirements during VIP visits and off-site events.
  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain network, voice, radio, and video infrastructure.
  • Maintain accurate inventories of IT infrastructure, tools, and equipment.
  • Assist with infrastructure upgrades and preventive maintenance.
  • Provide technical support for IT endpoints and users.

Qualifications & Evaluations

Education

Applicants must have:

  • At least two (2) years of post-secondary study at a vocational college or university in:
    • Information Technology Infrastructure
    • Telecommunications
    • Network Systems
    • or a related field.

Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ hands-on experience installing, repairing, and maintaining:
    • Data infrastructure
    • Voice systems
    • Radio systems
    • Video infrastructure systems

Language Requirements

Applicants must be fluent in:

  • English – Level III (Speaking, Reading & Writing)
  • SiSwati – Level III (Speaking, Reading & Writing)

Language proficiency may be tested.

Job Knowledge

Applicants should possess knowledge of:

  • IT infrastructure installation, operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Telecommunications and internet regulations.
  • Network cabling standards.
  • Radio, voice, and network infrastructure.
  • IT endpoint devices including:
    • Radios
    • Telephones
    • Televisions
    • Audio-visual equipment
  • Inventory management systems.

Successful candidates will also develop knowledge of:

  • U.S. Government and Department of State IT infrastructure standards.
  • Mission security policies.
  • Certified tools used on U.S. Government networks.
  • Annual IT inventory procedures.

Skills and Abilities

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong administrative and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience using hand and power tools.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment including:

    • Multimeters
    • Tone generators
    • Network testers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to create and interpret network topology diagrams.
  • Ability to maintain IT infrastructure systems and inventories.
