
Good Shepherd Catholic Hospital and College of Health Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified and visionary leaders for the position of Chief Academic Officer (CAO). The successful candidate will provide strategic academic leadership and lead the College’s transition into a university, ensuring that the process meets applicable regulatory, accreditation and quality assurance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development and implementation of the College’s academic strategy, policies and plans.
- Direct and coordinate academic programmes, teaching, learning, research and student support.
- Lead the transition from nursing college to university, including institutional planning, programme development, governance structures, staffing and resource readiness.
- Work with relevant government bodies, regulators and accrediting agencies to secure required approvals and accreditation.
- Establish and strengthen quality assurance, academic standards and continuous improvement systems.
- Recruit, develop and support academic staff; foster research, scholarship and professional development.
- Oversee curriculum review and the development of new programmes aligned with workforce and community needs.
- Promote a student-centred, inclusive and ethical learning environment.
- Advise College’s leadership and governing bodies on academic matters, risks and progress towards university status.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- A PhD/Doctoral degree in nursing, health sciences, education or a closely related field.
- A strong record of senior academic leadership in a recognized higher-education institution.
- Substantial experience in curriculum development, accreditation, quality assurance and academic governance.
- Demonstrated success leading institutional change or higher-education development; experience with university establishment or transition is a strong advantage.
- A record of teaching, research and scholarly contribution appropriate to senior academic leadership.
- Excellent strategic, communication, stakeholder-engagement and people-management skills.
- Current professional registration or eligibility for registration, where applicable.
