PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As a member of the EWSC Leadership Team, the Chief Operations Officer will contribute to the development and attainment of the Corporation’s strategy by planning, directing and overseeing Asset Management, Production & Distribution and Regional Operations.
The role will drive operational resilience and effectiveness by setting long-term strategic goals and ensuring the functional effectiveness of the Operations Department.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of engineering principles and practices relating to water, wastewater, management and infrastructure development.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory and statutory requirements and applicable local and international laws.
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate policies, programmes and processes.
- Knowledge of financial and operational drivers within a water utility.
- Corporate performance monitoring, reporting and evaluation methodologies.
- Project management skills.
- Extensive public interaction and stakeholder engagement experience at national, local, regional and global levels.
- Knowledge of public administration, management, supervision, training and performance evaluation.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and administration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s Degree in Commerce, Management, Business Administration or a relevant technical discipline.
- Where the Master’s is in Management or Business Administration, a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
- At least 10 years’ experience, including 8 years in senior management, involving budgeting, management and supervision of operations in a large industrial or utility environment.
- Significant experience in revenue delivery and cost optimisation is critical.
