DAC SUPERVISOR

Function: Factory – Laboratory
Reports to: Laboratory Technician
Location: Big Bend, Eswatini

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Company Employees for appointment to the above-mentioned position.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Check and measure that the maintenance and cleaning schedules of the DAC laboratory and sample points are strictly adhered to at all times.
• Inspect daily all DAC sampling and analytical equipment and initiate repairs where necessary.
• Check and ensure that all repair work is carried out correctly and timeously.
• Ensure laboratory staff carry out routine checking of equipment and procedures correctly.
• Calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments against known standards.
• Ensure cane, mixed juice and bagasse sampling and analysis are strictly executed according to official documented methods.
• Attend to breakdowns and callouts and organize and initiate corrective action.
• Record and report all results of massmeter checks to the Laboratory Team Leader.
• Deal with grower queries resulting from miscoding of data input, e.g. sucrose queries.
• Ensure timely compilation and distribution of all reports to end users.
• Evaluate daily and weekly data in consultation with the Laboratory Technician and Association Representative to identify problem areas relating to routine cane testing operations.
• Compile growers’ daily reports.
• Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
• Enhance housekeeping standards by cleaning work areas and depositing scrap in designated areas.
• Ensure work is done to the highest safety standards, follow safe work rules and prevent unsafe acts.
• Promote and adhere to Ubombo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.
• Training in Laboratory Modules will be an added advantage.
• 3+ years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
• Analytical and supervisory skills.
• Knowledge of the Continuous Improvement system.
