HANDYMAN

The Institute of Development Management (IDM) Eswatini invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Handyman.

Main Purpose of the Position

To carry out general maintenance and repair work on the Institute’s buildings, equipment, furniture, and facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained learning and working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of the surroundings by ensuring that litter is not left lying around.
  • Ensuring that rubbish in the bins by the entrance is not lying around
  • Ensuring that the grass on the premises including around the hostels is short
  • Pruning the trees and shrubbery on the premises
  • Generally tending the plants on premises
  • Acting as a Driver in the absence of the Driver
  • Assisting by cleaning IDM vehicles and driving on official business whenever there is additional support required for the driver.

Minimum Requirements

  • O’ level / EGCSE Certificate.
  • Driver’s License
  • Plumbing & electrification certificate level II
  • At least two (2) years’ relevant experience in maintenance, building services or a similar role.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical installation, carpentry and general maintenance.

Competencies

  • Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance.
  • Use of small industrial/electrical/mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including OSH regulations and an awareness of health and hygiene procedures.
  • Literacy and Numeracy skills sufficient to check delivery notes, measurements etc.
  • Able to regularly handle/carry items.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good time management.
  • High level of integrity and reliability.
  • Customer service orientation.
