Reports To: SHERQ Officer – Manufacturing
Location: Big Bend, Eswatini

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for appointment to the above vacancy in the SHERQ Function.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Ensure compliance with legislation, group standards and other relevant procedures by all employees to enhance QSHE matters in the workplace.
Monitor the use of prescribed protective clothing and equipment intended for safety by all employees.
Assist in identifying safety training needs and make recommendations to the SHERQ Officer.
Ensure the Work Permits system is implemented in accordance with the procedure.
Monitor and observe QSHE behaviour of employees at work and facilitate, guide or enforce improvement where required.
Manage the use and control of the QSHE card system.
Monitor and report all QSHE incidents and near misses into the Incident Reporting system.
Monitor the implementation of Risk Assessments in the Factory.
Ensure proper keeping of fire equipment by preventing abuse, ensuring proper storage and maintaining equipment in good serviceable condition.
Monitor and ensure QSHE induction of all contractors, visitors and employees in the factory.
Review contractor risk assessments and advise contractors on related matters.
Monitor off-crop activities and advise employees and contractors on safety matters.
Promote and adhere to Ubombo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a sugar manufacturing industry.
Basic understanding of sugar manufacturing processes and technology, safety and fire prevention requirements, and statutory requirements.
Exposure to QSHE Management Systems.
Knowledge of the Continuous Improvement System.
