Ubombo Sugar Limited invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for two fixed-term Sub-Journeyman Fitter positions in the Major Projects department.

Key Performance Areas

• Remove covers and casings, and dismantle gasket joints for cleaning or inspection of mechanical equipment.
• Dismantle and assemble mechanical components.
• Remove and replace complete units, including fitting and re-alignment of couplings, belt drives and chain drives.
• Re-pack glands on pumps and valves.
• Perform simple rigging work as required.
• Replace worn or defective components and shear pins on power transmissions where transmitted power is low.
• Maintain housekeeping standards by cleaning work areas and disposing of scrap in designated areas.
• Ensure all work is completed to the highest safety standards and in accordance with safe-work rules.
• Promote and comply with Ubombo Sugar procedures, policies and guidelines, including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption requirements.

Job Requirements

• B5 Certificate and Grade 2 SCOT Trade Test.
• O-Level Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to speak, read and write English.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Knowledge of Integrated Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental (QSHE) and Food Safety Systems.
• Familiarity with Continuous Improvement systems.
