 Purpose:

To develop and improve employees’ sewing skills, machine operation knowledge, quality standards, and production efficiency through structured training programs. The Training Instructor ensures that operators are competent, productive, and compliant with company quality, safety, and production requirements.

Reporting to the Production Manager & Human Resources Manager, the candidate will be responsible for:

Training and Development

• • Conduct induction training for new sewing machine operators.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on sewing techniques, garment construction, and factory procedures.
  • Train employees on various sewing machines and equipment.
  • Assess employees’ skill levels and identify training needs.
  • Conduct refresher training to improve productivity and quality.
  • Coach and mentor operators to achieve performance targets.

Production Support

• • Support production teams in improving sewing efficiency.
  • Assist supervisors in reducing defects and rework.
  • Monitor trainee performance during practical sessions.
  • Recommend skill development plans for operators.

Quality Management

• • Train employees on quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure operators follow approved sewing methods.
  • Monitor workmanship and quality compliance.
  • Assist with root-cause analysis of recurring defects.

Health and Safety

• • Train employees on safe machine operation.
  • Promote compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Ensure trainees use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.

Documentation and Reporting

• • Maintain training records and attendance registers.
  • Prepare training schedules and reports.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and provide feedback to management.
  • Update training materials and work instructions as required.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications

Experience: Skills, Knowledge & Attributes

• • Diploma or Certificate in Clothing Production, Fashion Design, Garment Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Training or adult education qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a garment or sewing manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience operating and troubleshooting industrial sewing machines.
  • Previous experience in training, coaching, or supervising sewing operators preferred.
  • Advanced sewing and garment construction knowledge.
  • Knowledge of industrial sewing machines and attachments.
  • Understanding of quality control procedures.
  • Production process knowledge.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring ability.
  • Patience and attention to detail.
  • Leadership and team-building skills.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop employees.
