Position: Physics Teacher (Full-Time)
The school is looking to appoint a specialist and experienced Physics teacher who is passionate about their students, their subject and developing their pedagogical craft.
The Science Department at Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA offers Physics at IGCSE and IBDP level and follows the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum in the Lower School.
At Waterford Kamhlaba, we deliberately support students who join us from diverse backgrounds and educational systems. The teachers within Science come from different contexts themselves and are highly experienced subject specialists who bring passion and energy to our classrooms.

Qualifications
- Bachelorβs Degree in Physics
- Professional teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
- At least 3 yearsβ experience teaching IBDP Physics and/or A-Level Physics
- Experience teaching ESS will be an added advantage
Responsibilities
- Teach IGCSE and IBDP Physics and Lower School Science
- Work with colleagues in the Science Department to continually improve and align pedagogical approaches
- Contribute to student growth outside the classroom by supervising a community service activity, club and/or an extra-curricular activity
- Serve as Tutor to 12 students
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at the College

Position β Geography or History Teacher
The school is looking to appoint either a Geography or a History Teacher, with the openness and ability to teach other subjects such as Global Perspectives, a research-based Cambridge course offered at IGCSE level.
We are looking for a teacher with a deep understanding of their subject and a holistic approach to learning. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic educator committed to nurturing studentsβ understanding of their discipline and supporting research and project-based learning while engaging with the systems and policies that govern our world.
The role commences on 1 September 2026 or 1 January 2027.
The primary role of the Geography or History Teacher will be to provide a holistic approach to learning for students in the Lower School, IGCSE and IBDP phases of the school.
The teacher will also be expected to teach IGCSE Global Perspectives. This role demands a commitment to excellence in teaching and a deep understanding of the primary discipline, research methods and supporting students to stay on track with portfolio-based work.
Teachers are expected to foster a classroom environment that encourages:
- Critical thinking
- Problem-solving
- Independent learning
They should also incorporate real-world, contextually relevant case studies into teaching and learning to enhance practical understanding and relevance for students.
Humanities teachers also prepare students for:
- IBDP Internal Assessments
- Extended Essays
and ensure adherence to examination standards and deadlines.
Qualifications
- BSc or BA in Geography, BA in History, or a related field
- At least 3 yearsβ experience delivering IBDP or A Level History, Geography, ESS or related courses (advantage)
- Strong understanding of IB and IGCSE philosophies and assessment methods
- Experience and willingness to teach IGCSE or A-Level Global Perspectives (distinct advantage)
- Ability to teach IBDP Global Politics (advantage)
- Honours or Masterβs Degree (advantage)
- Professional teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE)
- Passion for student-centred teaching and learning and the ability to develop meaningful relationships with young people
Responsibilities
- Teach Geography or History, and Global Perspectives to a diverse range of students from across the world
- Work with colleagues in the department to continually improve and align pedagogical approaches
- Develop and update curricular resources and assessments

Position β Full-time English Literature Teacher
The school is looking to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic full-time English Literature Teacher. The role commences on 1 September 2026 or 1 January 2027.
The English Department at Waterford Kamhlaba UWCSA offers the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum in the Lower Phase of the school to prepare students to study English Language and Literature at IGCSE and IBDP level.
The conceptual nature of all curricula requires students to focus on ideas that translate across the world and seeks to inspire, empower and foster a spirit of intellectual curiosity.
