1. VACANCY: LECTURER IN BUILDING AND CIVIL ENGINEERING (QUANTITY SURVEYING) – ECOT

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• O’ Level/IGCSE/GCSE Certificate or equivalent.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building Studies, Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or Building Economics from a recognised and accredited institution.
• Master’s Degree in any of the above fields will be an added advantage.
• 2–5 years’ relevant industry experience.
• Vocational Instructor Diploma or teaching qualification such as PGCE will be an added advantage.
• Computer literate.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop course outlines, lesson plans, learning outcomes, teaching materials and lesson evaluation tools.
• Prepare and deliver theoretical and practical lessons in Quantity Surveying, construction measurement, estimating, construction economics, construction technology and related subjects.
• Facilitate practical applications through measurement and estimating exercises, construction documentation, case studies, projects, site visits and field-based learning.
• Teach students to interpret and apply drawings, specifications, schedules of work, bills of quantities and other construction documentation.
• Guide students in measurement, quantification, costing and valuation of construction work.
• Facilitate use of Quantity Surveying software, digital tools and other relevant technologies.
• Supervise students’ academic, practical and departmental projects.
• Monitor students’ learning progress and provide academic guidance and feedback.
• Provide tutoring, mentoring and coaching.
• Develop competency-based tests, assignments, practical exercises, examinations and assessment instruments.
• Administer tests and examinations and moderate students’ assessments.
• Maintain student records and submit results within prescribed timeframes.
• Participate in internal and external moderation and quality assurance processes.
• Conduct research and contribute to curriculum development and programme improvement.
• Benchmark Quantity Surveying programmes against comparable institutions and relevant standards.
• Coordinate students’ industrial attachment, internship and workplace learning.
• Conduct industry visits and liaise with Quantity Surveying practices, construction companies, contractors, consultants, developers and Government departments.
• Provide technical and academic advice on Quantity Surveying and related Building and Civil Engineering matters.
• Teach up to 20 periods of one hour per week.
• Perform other official duties assigned by the supervisor or Head of Department.

Salary

Grade E1: E460,749 – E496,777 per annum

Duties/Responsibilities

• Organise, prepare, plan and facilitate teaching activities and college extra-curricular activities.
• Develop course outlines, lesson plans, learning materials and assessment tools.
• Deliver theoretical and practical lessons in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• Prepare and deliver practical exercises covering electrical circuits, electrical/electronic components, control systems, instrumentation, telecommunications and related fields.
• Conduct practical classes and electronic/electrical laboratory work.
• Demonstrate operation, application and safe use of electrical and electronic equipment, instruments, components and systems.
• Guide students in interpreting electrical drawings, specifications and other relevant documents.
• Integrate computer-based simulation and contemporary technologies into teaching.
• Ensure students understand and observe applicable electrical safety, occupational health and safety and laboratory procedures.
• Monitor students’ academic progress and provide guidance and feedback.
• Provide tutoring, mentoring and coaching.
• Develop competency-based tests, assignments, practical assessments and examinations.
• Assess and moderate students’ work.
• Review assessment results and identify areas requiring improvement.
• Participate in curriculum development and review.
• Conduct applied research in Electrical and Electronics Technology.
• Establish relationships with Electrical and Electronics industries, utilities, contractors, manufacturers and engineering firms.
• Coordinate and monitor students’ industrial attachment, internship and apprenticeship activities.
• Conduct industry visits.
• Liaise with employers regarding student placement, workplace learning and emerging skills requirements.
• Provide technical and professional advice to relevant schools, institutions and stakeholders.
• Participate in seminars, conferences, exhibitions and workshops.
• Teach up to 20 periods of one hour per week.
• Attend Department and Faculty Board meetings.
• Participate in staff development workshops and seminars.
• Perform other official duties assigned by the supervisor or Head of Department.

Salary

Grade E1: E460,749 – E496,777 per annum

3. VACANCY: LECTURER IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY / COMPUTER SCIENCE – ECOT

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or Software-related field will be an added advantage.

• 2–5 years’ relevant industry experience.
• Computer literate.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop course outlines, schemes of work, lesson plans, learning materials and assessment tools.
• Prepare and deliver theoretical and practical lessons in Information Technology and Computer Science.
• Conduct practical instruction in computer laboratories.
• Teach programming, software development, database management, networking, operating systems and related ICT subjects.
• Facilitate practical exercises, programming assignments, systems development projects and hands-on technology activities.
• Demonstrate installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware, software, networks and ICT systems.
• Guide students in using programming languages, development tools, database management systems and networking tools.
• Integrate contemporary technologies, digital learning platforms and industry-relevant ICT tools.
• Ensure students understand cybersecurity, information security and applicable ICT policies.
• Monitor students’ academic progress and provide guidance and feedback.
• Provide tutoring, mentoring and coaching.
• Supervise students undertaking individual and group programming, systems development and research projects.
• Develop competency-based tests, assignments, practical assessments and examinations.
